Erica was an ice cube!
We had a busy day today. We met Chris' good friend Ivan to tube down the Poudre (pronounced Pooder) River. It was partly sunny, in the 70's and the water was COLD! It was a 5 minute drive up from the end point and a 45 minute float down. There were a lot of big rocks and "rapids" areas. About half way back, Erica started getting really cold - lots of goosebumps and teeth chattering. Chris and Ivan on the other hand were just fine. Erica was a trooper and is ready to do it again (in warmer weather of course).
Erica was still having a little trouble getting warm, even when we got back to the house. So, Chris took her shopping. Nothing like a little retail therapy to get the blood pumping and body temperature up! And, we found a few items to take on our trip to Clearwater Beach for Amy's wedding.

Thank You!!!
I have finally made it back to my home in Colorado. I miss my homes in Chicago and Chilton and I especially miss my home in KC!
Andy and Emily,
Thank you for the wonderful accommodations Thursday night and thank you for driving us all over the place. I can't wait to see you guys again in a couple of weeks and then again for Labor Day.
Roger and Kelly,
Thank you so much for your generous hospitality. I felt right at home. I had a great time meeting the family and look forward to future gatherings. I have to admit that I was a bit nervous before the weekend...how silly! Roger, thanks for the great day out on the boat. Kelly, thanks for all the wonderful photographs. I can't wait to hang them in my house and at work. I know my family here in CO will love them.
Wow! It's late and I need to get to bed.
Thanks again, everybody!!!

Fore!
Tonight I met my friends Libby and Christina at the driving range to practice up for a golf tournament in August. It has been over 3 years since the last time I golfed and I really need the practice, it was NOT pretty. Thank goodness for Best Ball!

Vive le Tour
Ahhh!! Nothing like a nice cigarette to help expand the lungs!
Forget about Top Chef, for the next three weeks I'm watching the Tour de France! I'm exhausted just thinking about the Tour. 20 days in the saddle. 2 rest days. 2200 miles!!! They even throw in a few "hills." I prefer 2 days of riding and 20 rest days :) Even crazier than the ride itself is the fact that I'm watching 3 hours of coverage every day. I need to get off the couch and get out on my bike! Anyone got a smoke?

Bye Bye Chris :(
Chris has been in KC for the past week. That is until this morning when I drove him to the airport. We both worked while he was here. He would drop me off at the hospital and then drive to the GE just outside of the city to work remote. Overall, it was a great week "playing house". Last night, after the usual Sunday dinner with friends, I took him to Union Station and the WWII memorial.
The fountain in front of Union Station. I believe it was designed by the same makers of the Bellagio fountain in Vegas.
Isn't he cute?

The Heartbreak Kid
Last weekend, we went to our first movie together at a theater. We saw Knocked Up on the Plaza. It was HILARIOUS! During the previews, we saw the trailer for The Heartbreak Kid. We are anxiously waiting for it to come out. The car/singing scene was especially funny since it reminds Chris of Erica - always singing in the car. At least he found out about this BEFORE the wedding :)

Happy 4th of July!
Today we went to Smithville Lake, which is about 20 miles north of KC. Our friend Chrissy has a slip with jet skis and a pontoon. The whole gang was there and we had a really nice time. It reminded me of how much I miss Lake Winnebago and we are really looking forward to our visit back to Wisconsin in 15 days!We had some thunderstorms late this afternoon and although they have stopped, I am not sure we are going to make the fireworks show that we had planned - it is pretty wet out there. It's okay with us, we are pooped from a full day in the sun and I have accounting homework to do anyway.

A Cool Site About Cancer Biology!:

I know what you are probably thinking - BOOORING! I was impressed at how interesting and easy it is to understand how cancer works. And, it gives you a little insight into what I do too.
