Sky Lanterns

We tried to set off Sky Lanterns last night.  It turned out it was windier than we thought.  We were going to light them in the field across the road, but had to move back into the yard where the trees blocked the wind.

We got one up into the air, but it eventually hit the trees and crashed down into the woods.  It is doubtful we will get another calm night yet this week.

Pandemic

We played a game called Pandemic today.  The object is to save humanity by working together to cure disease and prevent outbreaks.  It was fun - everyone on the team is assigned a different role that brings certain advantages.

We played three games but only saved the world once.

Something Old, Something New

We moved Chris's grandparents bedroom furniture up to the Master and bought a new bed (Chris picked it out) that would coordinate.

The bed was delivered this morning and we have been busy moving furniture today.  Our old bedroom set is now in one of the basement bedrooms.

We love that we can use this set as our own now.

Serial is a new podcast from the creators of This American Life, hosted by Sarah Koenig. Serial unfolds one story - a true story - over the course of a whole season. The show follows the plot and characters wherever they lead, through many surprising twists and turns. Sarah won't know what happens at the end of the story until she gets there, not long before you get there with her. Each week she'll bring you the latest chapter, so it's important to listen in, starting with Episode 1. New episodes are released on Thursday mornings. Serial, like This American Life, is a production of WBEZ Chicago.

The Kitchen Upstairs

We drove into Boulder this past Sunday night to celebrate our friend Brian's birthday at The Kitchen Upstairs.  It was a fun night.

Return on Exchange

I missed the actual exchange of cookies because I was in meetings.  Someone put a plate together for me, and this was what I made back in cookies.

There were some strange cookies in the lot.

Our Penguins are Home

We made clay penguins a week ago at an art studio near our house.  They were ready for pickup today, so we took a little walk with Zoey to go get them this afternoon.

They turned Out way better than we were expecting.

Sitting Pretty

This is Zoey's new thing:

She loves sitting at the dining room table.  We very frequently find her sitting on one of the chairs at the table all by her lonesome if the chairs aren't pushed in tightly.

First Friday

Tonight was Tennyson Street First Friday Art Walk.  We had dinner at Parisi, and then walked over to evb studio to make Penguins!

Here is what we started  with:

And here are the Penguins.  They need to be fired and washed with black paint, so the textures we applied will really show up. They will be ready for pick up in about 10 days.  Erica's is on the left and Chris's is on the right.  We'll post pics when we get them back.
