Modifying Cabinets for the Sink

Cabinets!

The cabinets are not trimmed out yet - they didn’t measure for the crown correctly.  We had custom paint on the uppers, so a couple week lead time at least for the crew to come back out with the crown in the right color.  We also need the countertops in before the uppers in the wine room (now called the butlers pantry) can go in due to the appliance garages that sit at counter level.  It’s all a big game of timing.  

We are toying with the idea of not installing hardware on the doors.  All of the doors have finger pulls.

Backsplash

We met with a designer at Floor and Decor first thing this morning.  Backsplash tile & grout have been picked:  

Cabinets in da House!

Kitchen cabinets were delivered today and will be installed on Tuesday.

Light & Bright

Ceiling and walls are painted.  Not the greatest pic due to the light and appliances in the way.  We don’t have full power and limited lights in the kitchen right now.  But it gives a decent idea.

Next Step: Paint

Cabinets will be installed end of this coming week.  We are painting beforehand.

At the Showroom

Before pulling the trigger on our countertop, we went to see a slab in person.  The showroom also served wine and beer so we had a mini happy hour while we were at it.  

Shaping Up

Drywall started today.

Kitchen Update

The kitchen design has been finalized and cabinets are in production.  Cabinet install expected in about 6 weeks.

Chris & Jim framed out the back kitchen wall a couple weeks ago in prep for the electrical and drywall.

Rough-in electrical should be finished today.

Demo is Done-zo

We put our granite countertops on a curb alert on Craigslist and a lady took them all.  We threw in the sink.

Habitat for Humanity is coming on Thursday to pick up all of the kitchen cabinets.

Next steps: 1) get our electrician in to add can lighting, fix some wiring, and add some outlets. 2) get the drywall guy in to take a look at the surprise exposed brick and get it ready for tile. 3) put all of our demo debris in our bagster and schedule pick up. 4) finalize kitchen cabinet design.
