Timelapse: Boulder's Flagstaff Fire

Boulder's Flagstaff Fire - Timelapse from Dustin Henderlong on Vimeo.

Started 3pm Tuesday, June 26th.  Ended 10am Thursday June 28th.

We first spotted the fire from the Tech Center around 3:30 on Tuesday.  My cube window looks toward Boulder.

Bike to Work Day

Chris has been looking forward to today for some time.  He took clothes to work yesterday to change into.  He has a ride home tonight.  He will be biking 35 miles into work this morning using a combination of trails, city streets and country highways.

Chris bringing it home.  The finish line is just a few more feet ahead.

Lake to Lake Tri

Chris is running in a triathlon relay today.  We got up at 3:45 this morning to drive to Loveland.

Carbo Loading at Tresca's

We found a gem of an Italian restaurant tonight just a short 0.8 miles away from the house in Tresca's.  We walked there around 8:30 tonight for dinner.  It was small, with slow, clunky service, cheap wine (bottle = $14) and good food.  It was perfect.  We will be back.

Their website says a Friday night fish fry is coming soon!  We inquired about it tonight and I suggested they serve lake perch  :)  That would be awesome.

Can't you Smell that Smell?

Seeing and smelling the effects of the fires to the North today.

Smelled like a bonfire at the house this morning.  You can see the brownish layer of smoke on the horizon from the Tech Center today.  Sad.

Chilton Public School Lunch

We ate public school lunch every day and it was not like this.  Hamdingers, hot tamales (aka sloppy joes), corn and mashed potatoes, canned pears and peaches, pizza, breaded chicken patties, and Salisbury steak with fake grill marks are what I remember.  I don't think Chilton even employed a Nutritionist when I was in school.  Pretty cool and I like the farm scenes:

Rear Ended

I got to use my OnStar for the first time tonight.  I was rear ended on I-25 on the way home.

I was able to stop.  The girl who hit me was able to stop, but a third car hit her into me.  The damage on my car is not terrible, luckily.

I have a little headache; my head hit my head rest.

I am sitting in my car, waiting for the police to take down all of our information so I can get home.

The third car was issued a citation.

Tough Mudder

Beautiful view from our hotel this morning.   We were in Beaver Creek for yesterday's Tough Mudder and climbed the mountain in the middle of the picture.  We were on a team with 2 guys that Erica works with and 1 guy that Chris works with.

The Course was updated and was 12 miles long.  We climbed 3,300 feet.  It was rough and we are beat up today.  There were 3 obstacles that involved live wires carrying up to 10,000 volts (don't worry, we each signed a Death Waiver) and Erica got 3 good jolts on one of them.  Chris said he didn't experience any shocks.

We are waiting on pictures...

There Goes the Neighborhood

They started construction across the street yesterday.  When we left for work, the house was there, when we got home, it was demolished.  Today they are hauling away the debris.  A super modern 2 story house is going in.

10,000

I will be sporting a spiffy pedometer for 100 days and am challenging myself to walk 10,000 steps per day.  10,000 steps generally equals 5 miles.  Yesterday was the first day of the challenge and my daily step total was over 12,000.  That included a 5.6 mile run.

Dinner from the Grill

Tonight Chris cooked chicken and vegetables on the grill using a couple of the seasonings and rubs he got for Christmas.  We wanted to eat on the back patio, but it looked like it might rain at any minute.  So, we moved to the covered front patio instead and watched the neighborhood go by.

Rockies vs Dodgers

Tonight we invited our neighbors, Ben and Ana and their 8 month old, Jackson, to the Rockies game.  Before the game, we had dinner at Highland Tap and Burger.  It was perfect weather and the Rockies won handily which is a nice change - they have not been having the best season.

And, I almost forgot, there was a game delay when a squirrel ran onto the field.  We were just close enough that we could see it running around.
