Year of Movies
This is where we’ll keep track of the movies we’ve seen using our Alamo Drafthouse Cinema free movie passes for the next year. The main purpose is to log the number of movies we see to ensure ROI for the cost of the passes. And it’s also kind of a fun thing. Our break even number is 18-23 movies per person depending on matinee pricing.
12/15- Mary Queen of Scots Erica liked it more than Chris did.
We’re finding we enjoy the first showtimes of the day (9am) on the weekends and we’re only a 9 minute drive to the theater which makes it easy to take advantage of movies.
All movies are linked to Rotten Tomatoes for ratings & info (the Tomatometer is explained here).
11/16 - Bohemian Rhapsody
11/17 - A Star is Born
11/18 - Widows Neither of us knew what this one was about prior to watching. We recommend it.
11/19 - A Star is Born (Erica is going again and taking a girlfriend)
11/21 - Boy Erased A well done movie on the topic of Conversion Therapy.
11/22 - The Front Runner Alamo is serving Thanksgiving dinner. We have no plans, so this is the plan.
12/07 - The Favourite
12/08 - Elf Movie Party. Movie parties are interactive and include themed props for use during corresponding scenes. Read more here & here
12/09 - Anna and the Apocalypse Campy zombie musical.
12/16- Vox Lux Interesting movie, very good performance by Natalie Portman.
01/11- Aquaman Some of the lines were something to be desired, but you don’t necessarily watch these kind of movies for the dialogue. Erica thinks Wonder Woman is the better DC movie, but Aquaman is highly entertaining nonetheless.
02/02- Vice. Christian Bale thanked Satan for inspiring his role as Dick Cheney. Enough said.
02/03 - Green Book Hands down our favorite movie so far.
02/09 - Cold Pursuit We were glad this one was “free”. It could be said this is a dark comedy. Or was it so bad it was funny? We haven’t decided. One couple walked out.
02/17 - They Shall Not Grow Old Fascinating WWI documentary using 100 year old footage. Just incredible. We recommend.
02/23 - Isn’t It Romantic Rom Com that brought some welcomed levity on a Saturday afternoon.
03/10 - Apollo 11. Interesting inside look at this mission. It was also suspenseful even though the turn out is known.
03/23 - Gloria Bell. Chris was out with the guys & Erica caught a movie by herself. Julianne Moore was excellent.
04/06 - Captain Marvel.
04/07 - The Beach Bum
05/05 - Long Shot A funny and well done romantic comedy.
05/17 - The Hustle Not very good, but some laughs.
05/26 - Booksmart
07/26 - The Art of Self Defense
07/27 - Once Upon a Time in Hollywood
09/21 - Hustlers
09/22 - Downton Abbey
10/19 - Joker
10/20 - Ad Astra
10/26 - Pain & Glory and The Lighthouse.
11/02 - Parasite
11/08 - Terminator: Dark Fate with Mom & Dad K
11/16 - Last Christmas
11/17- JoJo Rabbit
11/24 - Ford v Ferrari

B-fast with Brad
Erica’s old boss was in town for a few hours between flights and we were able to grab breakfast this morning. It was good to catch up.

CB2 After Hours
Kimbra performed at CB2 tonight and we were VIP. We saw Kimbra open for Foster the People at Red Rocks in 2012.

Yes, Alison has a fromd in her face. Not her fault.

Japanese Beetle Hunters
Little MF’ers. They were all drowned. You can’t squish em because that releases a scent that attracts more. Neem oil is the next tactic (it’s being delivered on Wednesday).

10 Year Reunion
Our friends Angela and Alan stayed with us this weekend. They were in town for our friend Alison’s 40th Birthday Party Weekend. Angela is Erica’s best grad school friend and we’ve kept in touch, but we haven’t seen each other in 10 years!

Some Upgrades
This was a narrow cabinet of shelves that was hard to use. Now it is a pull out with utensil storage.
And the panel for our beverage center was delivered this week:

BOH in Steamboat
We caught Band of Horses at the Strings Pavillion in Steamboat. This is our second show at this cool little venue that seats around 570.
Nikki Lane out of Nashville opened. Chris said maybe he likes country music more than he thought! We both liked her and we’ve downloaded some of her albums.
