Living Room

We picked out new coffee tables and a rug a couple months ago.  Here is what the living room looks like today:

Still Standing

I've been standing at work with my standing desk for 4 days now.  My legs and feet are tired and a little sore, but nothing major.  I like it so far and have generated a lot of buzz in the office...

Yesterday, one of my very hilarious co-workers put this on our desks (here's the article http://time.com/sitting/):

Today, 3 of the people on my team were standing too.

Book List 2014

Erica
Bossypants - Tina Fey
The Paris Wife - Paula McLain
Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? - Mindy Kaling
Gone Girl - Gillian Flynn

The Paris Wife was the favorite - it follows the love story of Ernest Hemingway and his first wife, Hadley, in 1920's Paris.  Gone Girl was very good.  It is suspenseful which makes for a fast read, but I'm not sure how I feel about the ending.  The Divergent Series is good so far - easy reading and very much along the lines of the Hunger Games.

Chris
Wheelmen - Reed Albergotti, Vanessa O'Connell
Jar City - Arnaldur Indridason

New Outlets

The outlets throughout the house are not well placed.  The wall that our bed and night stands are on doesn't have any and we have been using a surge protector and extension cords.

Today, Chris installed surface wiring and a racetrack to add 2 additional outlets.  No more cords!

Bacon, Bourbon, and Bling

Today, Chris and Kirk went to Bourbon and Bacon Fest.  There were about 20 different Bourbons and lots of foods that were kicked up a notch with the addition of Bacon.

Meanwhile, the girls were at the Denver Art Museum taking in the Cartier exhibit   It was stunning.  Hundreds and hundreds of carats of gemstones and thousands and thousands of diamonds.  Some of the pieces took years to create.

Here is a picture Erica took of one of the pieces in the exhibit.  Unfortunately, it doesn't come close to capturing how beautiful it is in real life.

Standing Desk

They say sitting is the new smoking and even exercise isn't enough to offset all of the detriments of sitting.

I decided I sit way too much.  So, I made a standing desk for my workspace for $35 using these instructions:

I anticipate it will take some getting used to.  I won't be able to wear pumps at work any longer (No better reason to get some new cute flats!) and I expect sore feet at the beginning.  But I'll be able to enjoy the mountain views much more, I can look forward to more toned legs, and hopefully lose a few pounds too (standing 3 hours a day, 5 days a week burns 8 lbs of fat/year).

All the Trimmings

We're still working away on the downstairs guest bedroom.  Last weekend, we added shelves next to the closet,  and gave a second coat of paint to the room.

Next step is trimming the entire unit to give it a finished and built in look.  We are planning to finish this project this weekend.

Work Surprise

I received a beautiful surprise today at work from Emily and Baby. They smell wonderful and have definitely brightened up my day.

Last Week

We've been home from WI for a little over a week now, and we've been keeping busy.

We went back to work begrudgingly after 2 glorious weeks off, and after realizing my idea for a wifi connected crock pot that can be controlled via smart phone was already taken, and we would not become millionaires in 2015.  Boo.

We're conforming!  We installed an IKEA Pax wardrobe in the larger downstairs guest bedroom.  We finished the frames and attached them to the wall last weekend, and put on the doors, hardware, and moved a light switch to accommodate the wardrobe this weekend.  We still need to trim everything out and add shelves onto the far end. Once complete, we should have a 4th conforming bedroom in the house.

Chris installed more modern and low profile light fixtures throughout the basement.

Our heated kitchen floors are back in working order.  The thermostat went out a couple winters ago and boy did we forget what we were missing!  Chris installed a new thermostat and we are good to go.  Zoey really likes them too - she has been laying on the kitchen rug a lot.  I have even been caught sitting on the floor in there, it is that cozy.

And, we celebrated our wedding anniversary last night with a nice dinner at The Plimoth.  <3

Life is good.

Here's the Pax:
