Spring Bling

Erica's final birthday present was some spring bling. We went to Millennium Gallery of Living Art and got her belly beeper pierced. It's beautiful!!!

Erica's Night on the Town

Last night we went out to Old Town in downtown Fort Collins to celebrate Erica's birthday. We had a delicious dinner at The Melting Pot. We were joined by Ivan and Joy, Brian and Steph, and Brian and Esther. A good time was had by all! After dinner, we hit up a couple of the local watering holes. Erica and I stayed at The Armstrong Hotel in Old Town.

Street View Crazy

Apparently Google is going crazy with Street View. If you search for Erica's or Chris' address in Google Maps you can see pictures of our cute little abodes from last summer. It is a good way to tour our neighborhoods. I'm just glad I wasn't mowing my lawn naked when they took these pictures :)

Rock Chalk!

The NCAA tournament is in full force and everyone is crazy about Jayhawk basketball. "Rock Chalk!" Is heard and seen everywhere - its a greeting in the hallway, in e-mail, on t-shirts...


KU's world famous Rock Chalk Chant evolved from a cheer that a chemistry professor, E.H.S. Bailey, created for the KU science club in 1886. Bailey's version was "Rah, Rah, Jayhawk, KU" repeated three times. The rahs were later replaced by "Rock Chalk," a transposition of chalk rock, the name for the limestone outcropping found on Mount Oread, site of the Lawrence campus.

The cheer became known worldwide. Teddy Roosevelt pronounced it the greatest college chant he'd ever heard. Legend has it that troops used the chant when fighting in the Philippines in 1899, in the Boxer Rebellion in China, and in World War II. At the Olympic games in 1920, the King of Belgium asked for a typical American college yell. Glad to be Home

Since I blogged last, I have hardly been at the house - just long enough to sleep. School is back in full force. I had a quiz and a midterm yesterday, a quiz and final project proposal due today, and there is still a quiz and presentation for tomorrow.

Happy Easter

The Easter Bunny brought Chris Swedish Easter goodies from Ikea. We celebrated by ordering Easter Chinese take-out from Aloha Chopsticks, our favorite neighborhood Chinese place. I just took Chris to the airport and I am off to the library...

New Fence

We finished the fence today. Although I don't have pictures of the old fence, it was in poor condition, very rotten and paint chipped. We kept the posts and most of the slats and added new 2x4s and new paint.

I wanted to paint my wooden house letters, but when we took them off of the house, the 2 broke in half. So we got new numbers and a new mailbox (not in this pic). We put them where the existing mailbox was and they are antique brass and bronze. It looks very nice.

Spring came a little early this year when Chris brought home these beautiful tulips earlier this week.

Half Day

Today we both took a half day of work and got out in the yard. It was a disaster back there from the ice storm this winter. The good news is it was beautiful outside - we got a little sun burnt. More good news is that we were able to put out 13 big bags of leaves and debris, ~10 bundles of branches and 2 more garbage cans full as well. The even better news is that the garbage men took it ALL the next day.

We slept through St. Pattys Day

Last night, Chris picked me up from work because it was raining (It monsooned most of the day), then we went immediately to the grocery store because I had no food in the house. We made dinner, and were asleep on the couch by 7:30 and were both out for the rest of the night!

Wedding Goers

This weekend we were in Denver for Cori & Bob's wedding.

ACHE

While my little monkey was home sick, I was in Chicago for the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE) Congress. Sessions were Monday and Tuesday, which left plenty of time to hang with Em over the weekend. We shopped a lot - hit all of the major department stores in search of a beach wedding dress and also made the traditional trip to Trader Joes.

Sick in Colorado

I wish I was writing this from Chicago. Hanging out with Erica and Emily and Andy. Unfortunately, I got really sick Thursday night. I was hoping I would recover by Friday afternoon so I could travel, but I still had a 103 degree fever. With much heartache I canceled my flight and I have been confined to my couch and bed all weekend. I've been watching a lot of TV, and sleeping when I can. I feel better this morning, but I still have a bit of a fever. I really just need to get better for my sister's wedding next Friday. Wish me luck!

Test

No Fly Weekend

It was beautiful in KC this weekend - near 70 degrees. So, Erica met up with her pal Libby and watched some rugby on Saturday. Today has been mostly about school work with a looming finance mid term coming up on Thursday.

Chris spent the weekend at his parents, who continue to remodel their bathroom. It was snowy in Colorado today, and it is making its way to KC - the rain there is expected to turn to snow by midnight.
