...And spent the day catching up with friends.

Lunch at Grinders, beer and games at the new International Tap House, more beer at the Boulevard Brewing Beer Hall, and finally Cheeseburger Pizza at Minsky’s.  

Road Trip

It was snowing in Denver when we hit the road early this morning.  Black ice over the border made the drive a bit intense, but we made it through.  Erica called 911 for a truck we passed that had flipped and was about 50 yards off the road and across the ditch.

F U Flu

Erica has thas flu.  So much puke & diarrhea.  Zoey is a good buddy and hasn’t left her side all day.

Erica’s team had a holiday off-site today.  Business mixed with a gingerbread house competition and white elephant.

Her gingerbread house came in first place.  And she wound up with a yard of Twix (a favorite).  Zoey won’t stop sniffing the box!

F Bombed!

Had girls night at the Denver Flea market tonight (Chris and Zoey were having beers with the boys at Joyride Brewing) and I won these beauties.  The company is called Flower Bombers and they call their bouquets F Bombs.

Cheese & Wine Class

We had a great time at our neighborhood cheese shop - they regularly offer classes and we were finally able to attend one.

The Harbison was awesome - it is a soft cheese that comes wrapped in Spruce bark which allows you to bake it and it doesn’t run all over the place.  This cheese tasted like broccoli!   We took a wheel home to melt over fried potatoes.  

The Stilton was served in Port.  The Port was chocolatey and it was a fun pairing.

Other favorites (they were all good, really) were the Chèvre in brown sugar and almonds and the Sottocenere Al Tartufo (truffled cheese).  This truffle cheese is different in that it has truffles in the cheese vs. being flavored with truffle oil.

Net Neutrality

Not a super exciting topic, but if net neutrality is killed, we will all be affected.  Listen to the John Oliver Last Week Tonight segment below and take 2 minutes to give your input to the FCC.

Easy way to file your statement in support of Net Neutrality with the FCC:

1. Go to GoFCCYourself.com (John Oliver bought this domain and it will bounce you to the FCC website)

2.Then Click EXPRESS (at right side of page) 

3. Enter your name (Must hit enter for it to register) & required info 

4.Write: "I strongly support net neutrality backed by Title 2 oversight of ISPs." Plus any other message you want to add--this stuff's important.

Such as: "I strongly support net neutrality backed by Title 2 oversight of ISPs. Net Neutrality is a protection for consumers. It protects the right of people to have an open internet, where all traffic is treated equally. With how much is shared over the internet, and have access to many great sites that foster learning and growth. If you now have to pay extra, to use Wiki for example, for those who can't afford the price increase, all of a sudden, we have people who have limited access to educational materials that allow them to learn. Please keep the Internet open and accessible to all Americans."

Destination: Paso Robles with friends.  We were far away from the wild fires.

We landed in Oakland and stopped for lunch at Drake’s Barrel House for lunch before getting on the road.

Landscaped

We've been talking about landscaping our parkway/hell strip for years.  It finally happened.  We chose Kingfisher Landscape - the owner lives in our neighborhood.  Erica negotiated the price to exclude planting (plants would be delivered & we would plant) to keep the cost down, but we received an email that in order to keep the project moving, they went ahead and planted free of charge, which was a really nice surprise.  

We are waiting on mulch which will go in on Monday.  We're really happy with the result.
