JHAWK
I might have written about this before, but JHAWK stands for Jayhawk Healthcare Administrators Working for Kansas. It is a student organization that is affiliated with my graduate program. I am on the executive board as the Outreach Officer. My focus is on community involvement, fund raising, and internship opportunities for students in the MHSA program. I have added a link to the JHAWK website under the links section to the right.

The City of Fountains

This past Saturday evening we went to the Plaza. It was a beautiful night, the weather was perfect. We stopped by Cold Stone Creamery for a treat after dinner (we made sweet and sour chicken at home) and then walked it all off as we strolled and window shopped.
Here we are at the JC Nichols Fountain at the East entrance of the Plaza.

It is a sad, sad day!!!
I regret to inform everyone that today Erica finally decided to part with her 2007 New York City fire fighters calendar. It will be missed. If you don't mind some out of date fire fighters and a few coffee grounds then let us know and we can dig the calendar out of the trash.
I'm a Rebel

If you liked the pictures I took at the baseball game in the previous post then hopefully that is just the beginning. Kelly was kind enough to give me her old Canon Digital Rebel XT so that it ends up in good hands. She gave me some great advice and loaned me some very helpful photography books which I have thoroughly enjoyed. The baseball game was the first chance I had to put all that reading to the test and it was not easy. The fact that I was dealing with backlight and night shooting with no tripod made things interesting. I have some more photography books waiting for me at the library. I can't wait to get back out there and keep practicing! THANKS KELLY!!!
Work Outing at the Rockies Game
Last Tuesday I went to a Colorado Rockies game with a group from work. We had good seats towards the outfield on the first base line. GE provided a charter bus that took us from work down to Denver. It was nice not having to deal with traffic and we could drink on the bus :)
It was a beautiful evening for a ball game...
I was joined by my sister...
Then the clouds rolled in...
It rained hard for a couple of innings and then cleared up . A good time was had by all even though the Rockies lost 2-4.

Feed the hungry. Feed your brain.
How many times have you been sitting around wishing you could feed the hungry while also feeding your insatiable desire to improve your vocabulary? If you are anything like me, then the answer is all the freakin' time. Thanks to the internet scouring prowess of my mom - a.k.a. Pam - you can now fulfill those wishes 20 grains of rice at a time: http://www.freerice.com/

We bought a washer and dryer from Snoop Dogg
I went to do laundry on Friday night and the washer wouldn't start. The washer and dryer are old and came with the house. This was also the second time it would have to be fixed. I figured it was time to get something better.
So, Chris and I got on Craigslist and found a 4 year old matching Kenmore 90 series washer and dryer for $325. The seller offered delivery and setup for an additional $25. So, we e-mailed the guy and set up delivery for Saturday morning. He was selling them because he sold a rental property without appliances. In the meantime, we looked him up on criminalsearches.com He had many counts of possession of marijuana and intent to sell. So, I had my friend Libby come over while the washer and dryer were delivered.
I got up early and got the old washer and dryer out of the laundry room, bought some new fill hoses at Lowes, and went to the ATM to get some cash. The seller arrived on time with a buddy and a dolly and he looked just like Snoop Dogg. He installed everything, showed me that they both worked, changed the plug on the dryer (he took the cord from the old one and put it on the new one so it would fit the outlet), and even hauled the old washer and dryer away.
I have done 2 loads of laundry and so far so good!
