The Noshery

It is feeling like fall here.  A thunderstorm commonly rolls in sometime around the afternoon and the evening temps are cooler.  We have been enjoying the cool down on walks around the neighborhood.  Especially since Erica is taking part in a challenge at work to take 10,000 steps a day for 100 days.  It's called the 100 Day Dash and it started on August 18th.

One night we walked north toward Regis University and found a little cafe, open for breakfast and lunch only, called The Noshery.  It has been open for just a few months and got all 5 star reviews on Yelp.  We were able to try it out today and were not disappointed.

We were greeted by a friendly gal at the counter who informed us all of the pastries and baked goods were made in house.  We each ordered a sandwich and a side of macaroni salad.  Chris had the turkey with pesto and Erica tried the prosciutto with cranberry chutney.  It was all yummy, and the bread was awesome.  Things were going so well we decided we also had to try some dessert.

It was hard to make a decision, but we ended up with a lobster sugar cookie and a lemon merengue tart.  We ended up taking half the tart and a lobster tail home with us for later.

Chris says he wants to go back every weekend.

Workin' Like a Dog on National Dog Day

I worked from home today, and when I got up to grab some lunch from the kitchen, Z filled in for me.

USA Pro Challenge

We biked downtown to watch the final stage in the USA Pro Challenge today.  We were rooting for Jens Voigt.  He retired after the race and was in a breakaway until the last lap, but just couldn't grab a stage win this year.

Rockies

Work event at the Rockies.  They actually won, and we saw a grand slam!  They were playing the Royals, so I didn't have a strong preference for who was the victor anyway :)

Pooped Pup

Zoey also had a great time at the surprise party.  There were lots of people giving her attention and a lot of food scraps, and Zoey found them all.

She was out like a light and we could hardly get her to move off the couch to go to bed.

Surprise!

It has been pretty quiet around here, and for very good reason...we were prepping for Chris's Dad Jim's surprise 65th birthday party.

Jim arrived at our house tonight under the premise we were having him over for a family dinner wth Chris's sister and her husband.  This is what was waiting for him:

Here he is (in the red) just after the Surprise:

And the Cake.  More than one person thought this was a hat...

The overwhelming message from the family and friend party-goers was they wouldn't have missed the party for the world, and they had the best time.  We agree and are so glad we could be part of it.

Happy Birthday, Jim!

Ottoman-less

We found a hole in the fabric on one of the ottomans, so we returned them...

One last look:

Ottomans?

We ordered ottomans to go with our new loungers from Target.  They arrived yesterday.  Erica is not 100% sold on the color, but Chris likes them.  What do you think?

Farm Fresh

Our neighbors are out of town, so we got their 1.5 dozen organic egg delivery this week.  Looking forward to making a nice quiche.

Patio Lounging

We have been looking for some time for more lounge-y chairs for the patio.  We have our patio set dining chairs, but they are pretty upright, and not super comfy for things like lengthy leisurely patio reading.

The problem with patio furniture is it is crazy expensive.  Our search included Kohl's, Lowes, World Market, Pier One, CB2, Restoration Hardware, Target, and Home Depot.  We luckily found something that was stylish and well priced at Lowe's.  Enter the Garden Treasures Tucker Bend Gray Woven Seat Steel Patio Dining Chair:

Even at the full $65.00 price, these chairs would be a bargain considering the prices of all of the other chairs we had looked at.

We ordered two of them online and opted for free store pick up so we could use an online coupon code for an additional 10% off.

They are comfy, get good reviews, sturdy, and don't have any patio cushions to worry about - our current patio chair cushions are starting to dry rot and it is a bummer.

Let the lounging begin!  Zoey wasted no time:
