Cream of Tomato

We planted a regular tomato plant this year.  It is growing out of control like last years yellow pear tomato.  Or is this normal?

I made Ina Garten's Cream of Tomato Soup tonight.  Chris says "It's Delicious!"  He had seconds.

Wow! Those tomatoes are amazing! We finally have a few grape tomatoes and cherry tomatoes that are ripe.
