Bolder Boulder

Today we ran the Bolder Boulder. There were 53,000 runners. We did not meet our goal of running the entire course. Chris probably could have done it, but he wouldn't leave Erica's side even though she told him it was okay to run ahead.

We eased into the race, we didn't want to start out too fast. It is also good to know that the day before, we played volleyball with friends and we were both pretty sore from that, and Erica pulled her hip flexor, but she didn't realize how badly until mile 3 of the race.

As you can imagine, things got bad after mile 3, Erica was hurting pretty bad. To add to it, Erica realized her left foot was bleeding near the end of the race - so much that blood soaked through the top of the shoe. When she took her shoe off, the entire toe area of the sock was completely soaked in blood. It was from her toes being squished and her toenails cutting into the sides of her toes. Gross, we know.

We are both sore today, but, we are determined to run the race again next year...

Our latest Woot Wine purchase

Last fall we bought a bottle of Cycles Gladiator at World Market in Kansas City and really enjoyed it. I think the only reason we bought the wine to begin with is that the label is so cool. I liked the label so much that Santa got me a small print for Christmas. Anyway, a four pack came up on Woot Wine and I couldn't resist. We got one bottle each of Pinot Grigio, Chardonnay, Reserve Merlot, and Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon. I didn't really care about the Pinot or the Chard, as you can get those in the store, but at the time I bought this wine, Woot Wine was the only place to get the reserve wines. Eventually you will be able to buy them on the Cycles Gladiator web site (never in a store.) Now our little wine rack is full! That's 8 bottles! We better get drinking...

We have new running shoes, we must be runners!

We are running in the Bolder Boulder 10K on Monday. We had really good intentions of signing up for the race and training accordingly. But, things did not go as planned and we are not as prepared as we would like. So, we would just like to run the entire course. We have nice new running shoes with lots of cushioning and we have been hydrating all week.

These are our demise this weekend. Try them, you'll see.

Vegas Recap

Chris looking mischievous in the TJ's liquor department

One of the first things we did on Friday morning was a trip to Trader Joes. We were turned on to Layer Cake Shiraz by the staff there. We bought 2 bottles - one to drink on the trip and one to take home:
