Hello from the Cyber Cafe @ the ASC Annual Scientific Meeting

So far so good: We checked into the Magnolia Hotel late last night. It is pretty swanky. We went down to the Magnolia Club for continental breakfast this morning and the place was packed...with elderly women. It turns out there is an international quilt festival in town this weekend.

For the rest of the day we have been at the American Society for Cytopathology annual meeting. Erica is having a great time, there have been some really great presentations so far. Chris has packed a little bag of crosswords, magazines, & music to bide his time. It has not been all boring though, he says that some things have been interesting. He is getting familiar with terminology like ASCUS, LSIL, and HSIL (common Pap smear diagnoses). Fun fun fun!

Tonight there is a reception with the exhibitors and vendors and then cocktails with some of Erica's buddies from Milwaukee that are also attending the meeting.

Bright and early tomorrow morning, Erica is being presented as a recipient of the 2006 ASC Foundation Cytotechnologist Scholarship. The $2,000 scholarship helped cover the expenses to attend this years meeting.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY CHRIS!

Love you, E

Off to the Big Fishbowl in the Sky

I came home today and Sashimi was lying on the bottom of her bowl. Dead. I am pretty sad about the whole thing. Looking back, I don't know if I had actually seen her eat in the past week and she was hanging out at the bottom of the bowl quite a bit. It looks like she hemorrhaged under her gills.

Wasabi is still alive and kicking, feisty as ever. I guess the next time Chris comes home we will be buying a new Betta fish for me.

RIP Sashimi.

Our Blogger Family Keeps Growing

Check out the link to Nikki and Eric's new blog. You can find it under "family and friends" to the right.

Nikki is Erica's cousin and she has been married to Eric for a little over a year. They recently purchased their first home together and live happily in Wisconsin.

It wasn't for lack of trying

For the past 2 days we have been caught up in the Colorado Rockies World Series Ticket fiasco. To get everyone up to speed, this entailed an online World Series Ticket offering that started yesterday at 10am. These tickets were for games 3,4, and 5 this weekend in Denver. Technical difficulties ensued and virtually none of the 16,000 tickets available were sold. Today, they opened sales again and all tickets were gone within 2.5 hours.

We were optimistic, Erica especially. After waiting in a virtual line for many hours to buy tickets, it just wasn't meant to be. Big bummer!

I Hate APA

But, I am done with midterms. YAY!

P.S. APA (aka American Psychological Association) is a formatting style for formal papers and manuscripts. Up until this point, I have only used MLA (Modern Language Association) which is preferred for research papers.

Aren't They the Cutest?

This past weekend we flew to Wisconsin for Grandma and Grandpa E's 50th wedding anniversary. They planned a great little luncheon for 50 of their closest friends and family members. We were very glad that we could help celebrate!

Thanks Cori!

Chris' sister Cori just returned from traveling for the past 3 weeks through India and Nepal. She came home bearing gifts; Chris got Tibetan Prayer Flags and Erica got a very pretty Indian bangle.
